Forgiveness is always a good thing, and always releases us from the chains we put on ourselves. Forgiving, but not forgetting, therein lies freedom.
I've forgiven all of my exes, and my father, and other various family members for the pain they have inflicted upon me. It did me no good to hold onto what they had done to me, because it didn't punish them in the slightest, and once I had said the words aloud it released me from their power.
